Building a lasting legacy

Just in Time for Foster Youth - Legacy Council

You are invited to add your legacy to that of others who realize the importance of a permanent endowment. The Legacy Council was created to recognize those special individuals who plan to make a gift at the end of their lifetimes and to applaud today's generous citizens who, like those who came before, will improve the lives of those who will come after.

Because you are considering a legacy gift, Just in Time for Foster Youth offers many options:

You may name Just in Time for Foster Youth as a charitable beneficiary in your will, specifying a certain sum, a percentage, or the residue of your estate. Guidelines may be established to ensure that your wishes for supporting the community are met in the future.

Choosing from a variety of other planned gifts such as charitable remainder or charitable lead trusts might be an option for you. This type of arrangement is ideal for gifting of appreciated assets. Generally they provide a current income tax deduction for the present value of the remainder committed to charity with no capital gains on the disposition of the appreciated assets. And there is no tax on the earnings of the trust. Naming Just in Time for Foster Youth as the final beneficiary of the trust enables you to create your legacy to the foster youth community.

Life insurance may be used as a bequest instrument, also naming Just in Time for Foster Youth as the beneficiary.

A gift of real estate may provide you with a means of using the value of your home or real property to create your legacy.

The ultimate gift from our "extended family" for transitioning foster youth...

Philanthropy is a learned behavior, and like other values, it is taught mainly by example. By joining the Legacy Council, your commitment to a charitable gift can assist others in making a similar decision.

Please contact Just in Time Executive Director, Don Wells to assist you (dwells@jitfosteryouth.org or 858-663-2081).

The Legacy Council of Just in Time for Foster Youth acknowledges those individuals who, as part of our extended family, wish to continue supporting self-motivated foster youth to achieve self-sufficiency through a planned gift:
