December 13th & 20th, 2008 - 2nd Annual - My First Home for the Holidays
On December 13th, volunteers and board members gathered to collect and store donated household goods for the second annual My First Home for the Holidays event. The following week, the Casey Center parking lot was covered with household goods for the big event. We distributed hundreds of housewares to more than 100 former foster youth who are working toward independence and self-sufficiency. In addition, we donated items to South Bay Community Services and Casa De Empara to help serve another 60 former foster youth in their transitional living homes.
A big THANK YOU to our dedicated volunteers, donors, and supporters especially: Soroptimist International of San Diego and La Jolla, for their continuing grant money and donations of food baskets and bags, KUSI, TV 51 for its fantastic and heartrending media coverage of our First Home for the Holidays event, and SleepTrain, Inc. for its generous donation of grant money and bedding.
November, 2008 - Soroptimist International of La Jolla Gift baskets
Each youth was ecstatic to receive the wonderful packages full of gift cards, accessories, supplies, homemade treats, and a lovely poem. The recipients were thankful to receive the beautifully prepared packages as they head into finals week at school. Thank you for bringing love and attention to our hard working youth!
October 21, 2008 - 2nd Annual Just in Time for Foster Youth Golf Invitational Crosby National Golf Course at Rancho Santa Fe
Thanks to UBS and our other sponsors and to our golfers, and volunteers for a fantastic day of golf and giving.
September 20, 2008 - Youth in Paradise Walk and Festival
Just in Time teamed up with community organizations county-wide to increase awareness and raise funds in support of activities and enrichment opportunities for foster children and former foster youth.
July 26, 2008 - College Bound Award Lunch and Shopping Spree
Like a family, JIT assisted in setting up the youth's dormitory room or college apartment with essentials and provided him/her with a computer, printer, basic school supplies, deposits for dormitory, and other fees. JIT provided the critical resources to these motivated students who are succeeding against all odds-so they may achieve their career goals and lead productive lives in our society.
