Our goal at Just in Time is to make it easy for our youth to receive help. We have created a new online application process to make it easier to apply for JIT programs.

NEW APPLICANTS:

First, submit the INTAKE APPLICATION BEFORE applying for any JIT programs (10 minutes)

After submiting Intake Application, submit any of the applications below (15-30 minutes per application)

RETURNING JIT Youth

Return "ANNUAL SURVEY" once per year (You will receive notification by e-mail in October each year--please notify us at jit@jitfosteryouth.org if your email address changes). Mandatory to remain eligible for JIT assistance

*JIT REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Former foster youth and ability to show proof
  2. 18-26 years old
  3. Emancipated from foster care (unless applying for College Bound and emancipating within three months from award date)
  4. Working full-time (30+ hours/week) and ability to show proof or Attending school full-time (30+ hours/week of coursework) and ability to show proof or Part-time work and school (30+ hours/week of work and coursework)

*If you do not meet the eligibility requirements,JIT will use discretion regarding your specific situation

All programs are volunteer-driven. Each program has specific opportunities to connect with individuals within the community who support your goals.

BASIC NEEDS/EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

Provides basic/emergency assistance in areas such as **food card, **bus pass, car repairs, rent payment, utilities, etc. (Limited funding available)

**Very limited quantities

COLLEGE BOUND AWARD and EVENT (AWARDED ONCE PER YEAR IN JUNE) APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE IN APRIL)

Provides basic college assistance including computers, printers, and shopping trip with a JIT volunteer for school supplies/dorm set up.

COLLEGE BOUND (YEAR ROUND)

Provides basic college assistance including computers, printers, school supplies, fees for dorm/school, etc. (Limited resources available throughout the year)

CAREER HORIZONS FOR YOUNG WOMEN

Provides networking opportunities with successful career mentors in YOUR career field of choice. Transportation funds and employment related costs for enrollees. 6-month requirement, open to females only. Next session starting September 2011.

CAREER BOUND

Provides assistance with fees for work-related expenses including fees, vocational training, etc. Interview clothing also available on a limited basis.

FINANCIAL FITNESS

Provides financial literacy training with direct connections to financial experts and ability to match savings. Must have stable income and the ability to save EVERY month for program. Limited to 100 participants.

MY FIRST HOME

Provides basic home set up of furniture/furnishings.

OTHER PROGRAMS

AMBASSADORS: Provides networking opportunities and community service to other foster youth.

FACULTY: Connections to college professors/tutors for limited tutoring and other on-campus resources for former foster youth.

LIFE SKILLS: Connections to coaches to provide guidance in areas such as stable relationships, effective decision-making, coping skills, and healthy lifestyles.

YOUTH ON THE MOVE: Featured youth every month.

JIT staff and volunteers work hard to make our programs as efficient as possible. You can expect an e-mailed response no later than five days after you submit your application.
